THE METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRITERIA FOR THE TRANSITION TO THE REMOTE MANAGEMENT OF AN “OPEN” ORGANIZATION

Abstract

The success of any business depends on the rational management of the processes taking place in an organization. The optimal application of all types of the resources: material, intellectual, and technological, allows achieving the desired goals in the shortest and the most economical way. The information technologies transformed the understanding of a communication system, allowed managing the processes at a distance, forming and transforming the information in a new way. Despite the opportunities appeared, most top managers of the companies continue to rely on the traditional classical principles and methods of management. It is caused by the established long-standing habits and the unwillingness to change to keep up with the times. Moreover, there is still quite a few of practical information that could be taken as the basis for decision making in the sphere of modern management. The paper considers various approaches to the organization of distance activity in the conditions of the information economy, presents the characteristics of open-type organizations, their advantages, and disadvantages. The authors indicate the main reasons for the transition to the remote management, The main steps for the successful implementation of the activity in the modern conditions are listed, the criteria for the transition to the remote management, both for new and existing organizations, are identified. The restrictions on the types of activity hampering the process of a changeover from the traditional form of management to the remote (virtual) one are indicated. The paper displays the scheme of decision-making and the method of scenario analysis of the key factors for the successful implementation of the remote management mechanism by an “open” organization. The approbation of the results suggested was carried out by the operating company. The authors presented the expert assessment of the main criteria of the operating efficiency, raised the questions for the further study of the problem of effective management of an organization using the remote principles.
