THE COMPETITIVE STABILITY OF ECONOMIC ENTITIES IN THE SPHERE OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT: THE ESSENCE AND BASIC ELEMENTS

Abstract

The relevance of this study is caused by the fact that, in the context of the world economy globalization, the formation of competitive stability of the economic entities of research and development sector becomes the essential prerequisite for the competitive advantages retention over the long term. The competitive stability of research and development sector ensures the adequate level of innovative development of the state, entrance to the world markets, and the solution of the tasks in the sphere of import substitution.

Modern economic literature presents the results of the study of sustainable development category concerning the enterprises (organizations, institutions) of the industrial sector, the educational services and entrepreneurship market, as well as the works on the study of competitive stability as the integral feature of the market economy. However, there are no any scientific works covering the study of the problems of competitive stability of the economic entities in the sphere of research and development, what is the gap in the economic science and causes the necessity to study and specify this category.

The paper covers the study of the essence of the category of competitive stability of the economic entities of research and development sector. The authors present their approach to the definition of sustainable development of the economic entities in the sphere of research and development, which will allow revealing the main directions of development of this sphere ensuring the economic growth and the transition to a new technological mode in the context of the aggressive environment. Besides that, the authors specified the structural elements of competitive stability of the economic entities and gave their characteristics.

The issue of improvement of competitive stability level of the economic entities involved in the research and development in Russia is topical due to the scaling-up of the external and internal challenges, the necessity of the economy transition to the fifth and sixth technological modes, and the development of the innovation system of the state.
